The achievements of Maureen FitzSimons as a child performer in America (which we call Maureen O'Hara today) would be a sure signification for her to the category of child prodigies. But for a person from Irish heritage surrounded by gifted parents and family, those were not innate traits. Maureen joined this wonderful refuge in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland and ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons came second from a group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen enjoyed playing athletic games as a child and was a pro in athletics. The combination of this natural interest and her talent for performing was remarkable. This was apparent when she won each Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could provide. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
